George Zappas Interviewed by Authority Magazine: 5 Things Aspiring Chefs Should Know

Authority Magazine recently sat down with our Executive Chef, George Zappas, to discuss what inspired him to become a chef, his favorite cuisines, inspiring stories from his career journey and rare insights. 

Authority Magazine is an online publication devoted to publishing beautiful stories featuring industry leaders, and the interview was part of their “5 Things I Wish Someone Told Me When I First Started as a Chef” series.

As you can imagine, it is an insightful and moving story that every aspiring chef would gain value from. In the interview George shares his inspiration, moments that influenced him, and nuggets of wisdom that only a long and prolific career can offer.

  1. There is not an unteachable moment, you can learn from every situation.  
  2. Don’t be afraid of failure. 
  3. You can only help those who want help. 
  4. Head down, head up! (Quit being so myopic!) 
  5. Everything is connected.
