Molten Lava Cake

Molten lava cake is a rich, individual-sized chocolate dessert with a soft, cake-like exterior and a warm, gooey chocolate center. Also known as chocolate molten cake or simply lava cake, it’s famous for the dramatic moment when the first spoonful reveals a flowing core of melted chocolate.

The batter is typically made with dark chocolate, butter, eggs, sugar, and a small amount of flour. What makes molten lava cake unique is the precise baking time—it’s cooked just long enough for the outside to set while the center remains molten. This creates its signature texture contrast: tender cake on the outside, liquid chocolate on the inside.

It’s often served warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and paired with extras like vanilla ice cream, berries, or a drizzle of caramel or raspberry sauce.
